Dinner Party

Dinner Party

The international student that I was paired with was from Columbia. He emphasized on how diverse the country was not just demographically and culturally, but geographically. He described to me how beautiful the landscape was. One of the most detailed memories was how there would be these enormous, towering mountains and just below them was this beautiful, tropical beach. These vivid memories inspired me to create a geographically abstract, diverse and dynamic ceramic piece that portrayed his memory of Columbia.

My first attempt

My second attempt (The blue is more vivid in person as well as the red and pink flowers not portrayed well in these photos)

Inspiration

Colombian Imagery:

The colors and textures that I used were to portray abstract geographical aspects of Colombian nature. Blue for the mountains. Red and pink for the flowers. Green for the forests, tall grass, and vines. The pale grey-ish blue for the rocks and marine life.
